I’ve been looking for a sleeve for my new laptop, and it’s not easy. It has to be beautiful and girly (i.e. either floral or pink, and preferably both!), and to really be a “sleeve” – I don’t want any bulky handles, because I want it to fit perfectly into my already-big bag. So I surfed Etsy a little, and saved some faves, but I’m not too excited. I guess I’ll have to look a little more. Anyway, the exciting thing I DID find while surfing for a nice outfit is Laptop skins! What a great idea! I have the transparent back sticker covering it still on, because people have told me it’ll get scratched easily. So just the thought of being able to turn it into pink/flowery or even customized with anything I want – now that’s exciting!:-)
The downside: these skins are extremely expensive, seeing as they’re…uh…big stickers!
What do you think: to buy or not to buy my laptop a pretty sticker for 20 dollars + shipping? This is the one I want:

I’m fascinated with the concept of visual journals, both as something to document my life, and to get the creative juices going. I started my own a few months ago, and I’m still working out what I want it to be like – is it just to practice a new technique? is it really a diary? does it have to have words? So far I’ve had entries of all types. I really want to be able to let my thoughts and creativity free in there, but I’m not there yet. It’s a bit unnatural to me. I’ve been gluing things down, painting a little, but not really daring to do much more. Maybe I’ll share a few pages sometime, but not today.
Today I want to show you a fabulous page by ART TEA LIFE. I just love the way you can see the process in which she chose the magazine page, cut it out, placed things differently, and then doodled, embellished, etc. Isn’t it great that she displays the whole process? Don’t you love blogs?! 🙂 ! I just love it, and I’m going to try to doodle and play more with mine!

When the first thought that crosses your mind upon receiving your new laptop is, “Yessss! Alterable suitcase!” And the first thought that crosses your mind as you peek inside is, “Yessss! Perfect storage for 12X12 paper!”

Lia from Art junk has been making so many inchies – tiny square collages (there’s a Flickr group, too), that I had to try. Plus, I have my beloved square punch to make things easier, so… I had a wonderful weekend! Finally cleared my mind, looked through my stash of materials and magazines (just looked, haven’t organized just yet ;-), and started painting and gluing. I did a few pages in my journals, the cutting board collage from the previous post, and then decided to give the inchies a try. Ah, so much fun! and satisfaction! They’re one inch, so there’s only so much deliberation involved… paint, cut, glue, stamp, ink… and they’re cute, too! I will definitely be making more!

Ah, finally… it’s not that I had time, I made time. I’ve been reading all my Somerset Studio mags over and over and over, and finally I had the courage to play – just play! So I tried out several different techniques I had read about, used magazine cut-outs and paint and stamps and ink on a wooden cutting board, and I’ve finally had my first mixed media experience. So much fun! As always, I love the outcome. I wonder if everyone always loves their work, or maybe it’s just because this is so new to me. I smile every time I see it. Makes me feel good. Plus, the sun is shining and spring is on its way!
Have a wonderful weekend!

I just have to share with you one of the most inspirational/dream-like/ fairy tale/wonderfully beautiful and creative blogs I’ve come across. I just stumbled upon it this week, and was so happy with the discovery. The blog is Ullabenulla, and as I’ve already gone through the WHOLE archive, may I suggest that if you don’t have time, just scroll through her art – you’ll be sure to come again after that!
Disclaimer: Be warned, Ullabenulla is a fascinating blog. I will not be held responsible for your time! 😉
